Paarl’s Ommiberg festival rocked
More than 4000 visitors poured in to participating farms at Ommiberg ‘Round the Rock’ wine festival 2013. The weather conditions were perfect on the day and the relaxed vibe saw patrons lounging on the lawns with drink and food in hand while they enjoy the free entertainment provided. It was difficult to choose where to go as the programme included some top quality music entertainment patrons could enjoy absolutely gratis and verniet!
With its focus on pairing unfiltered wines of the 2013 vintage with local variations of the traditional onion tart, Ommiberg’s relaxed atmosphere, live music and entertainment on the day, once again proofed that this festival is here to stay.
This year also saw an expansion of the shuttle service which proofed to be a very popular mode of transport and gave the opportunity for patrons to perhaps visit a farm that was not originally on their itinerary.
“We are very pleased with the growth shown by the festival. The participating wine farms invest a lot of time, money and effort to ensure that patrons can have a joyful day. The organizers also tried to include as many local music, food and craft businesses in Paarl in order to promote brand Paarl amongst its visitors”, says Annelize Stroebel, CEO Paarl Wine Route.
If you have not been around the rock make sure to diarise 8 March 2014 for more fun in the sun!
